Sandhills Bass Masters fish Baden Lake

.. Tail of the tape:

The Morning broke fair with mild temperatures the sky ranging from partly cloud to a few showers in the after noon. Fishing for the most part was hot, although not every one was catching keepers. The fish were bighting well and aggressively, considering the lake was packed do to several other tournaments going on. We pretty much had to fish behind someone else or find spots that were not taken, even if it they were not the places we would normally fish. Most of the competitors were putting fish in the boat right off the bat using top water baits and anything else that resembled a bait fish. The shad were up spawning and the bass were right behind them taking advantage of the distracted morsels. The eventual winner Mr. Roy Wood not only put together a limit, but managed to almost completely cull through his first limit in a last minute stop on a rocky bank that put several fish in his boat from the very first cast. With the last fish weighing 6 lb11oz. giving him a total weight of 15lbs,11oz. that sealed the fate of the remaining field. He also took home lunker honors for the day, giving him the lead in the lunker of the year race.Mr. Troy Short held down second also catching most of his fish off of rocky banks. Using top water baits when the clouds were blocking the sun and worms when she peeked through. Ending the day with a limit and total weight of 11lbs.1oz. Troy’s non-boating partner Mr. Hugh Shepard took home third place honors with 8lbs.6oz. by catching his forth and last fish in the very closing minutes of the tournament. All and all it was a really good tournament with lots of other fish being weighed in by the remainder of the field.
